First Miss Universe visit to Ukraine

For the first time since the Miss Universe beauty contest was launched, Ukraine was privileged to host its winner. Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe-2005 visited our country, invited by Aleksandra Nikolaenko. The visit of the honorable guest marked the start of Aleksandra’s activity in the capacity a licensee entitled to hold Miss Universe-2006 elimination contrast in Ukraine and Miss Ukraine-Universe contest.

After her arrival to Kyiv, the honorable guest together with Aleksandra went to meet the Supreme Rada speaker Vladimir Litvin. The girls brought up vexed social problems at meetings with US and Canada ambassadors in Ukraine John Herbst and Abina Dann.

As a part of a charity program, the girls along with representatives of Ukrainian foundation „The friends of children” (the President’s older daughter Vitalina Yushchenko is one of its leaders) visited Kyiv boarding school No. 15, where children affected by consequences of polyomielitis and cerebral spastic infantile paralysis live and study.

Aleksandra Nikolaenko prepared a surprise for Natalie: she arranged a meeting with her grandmothers – Zoya Glebova from Tuapse (Russia) and Anna Revenko (Crimea, Ukraine). The moving encounter took place in the presence of journalists, right during a press-conference of Natalie Glebova.

In Kyiv, Natalie together with Aleksandra took part in a few cultural arrangements. The girls visited a traditional Vienna ball organized by the Austrian embassy in Ukraine, delivered a ceremonial speech at „Golden lily” sports festival, and took part along with the President of Ukraine in the opening ceremony of 35th „Youth” international film festival.
